Brutalist Sedes Armchair by Wim Mulder

Brutalist Sedes Armchair by Wim Mulder
A distinctive and rarely encountered example of Dutch design, the “Sedes” armchair by Wim Mulder was produced in the 1980s by the small-scale workshop Meubelatelier Allerhanden. Its angular frame is carefully shaped to support the body, offering a naturally comfortable and relaxed sitting position.
Crafted from solid wood with precise joinery, the chair reflects a practical yet quietly refined Dutch aesthetic. Produced in limited numbers, it remains an appealing and often underappreciated collectible.
Wim Mulder is known for his understated, human-centered approach to modern furniture. Working primarily with independent ateliers, he emphasised craftsmanship, intelligent construction, and honest materials. His designs were typically made in small batches, adding to their rarity and enduring relevance.
