G23 Hoop Chair by Werther Toffoloni & Piero Palange 1972.
Designed in 1972 by the Italian designers Werther Toffoloni and Piero Palange for Germa, the ‘Hoop’ armchair stands out with its bold geometric frame, giving it a striking sculptural quality.
The chair’s structure is crafted from bent, cylindrical wooden elements finished with lacquer, while the seat and backrest feature off-white canvas upholstery (newly upholstered), held in place by lacing underneath. Its signature element is the tall, egg-shaped backrest, designed to provide generous support and comfort. The elongated armrests add to the chair’s distinctive silhouette.
Defined by its simplicity, clean lines, and absence of decorative details, this design is a quintessential example of architectural minimalism.
